V&C Foods is a family-owned and operated dairy distributor that has been serving San Francisco and the surrounding areas since 1945. We are San Francisco’s premier distributor for organic and traditional dairy, eggs, cheese and artisan products. One of the few remaining San Francisco distributors, we pride ourselves on our ability to seamlessly adapt with the city’s ever-evolving restaurant industry.

Founded in 1945 by Victor and Charlotte Cortesi, V&C began by distributing ranch fresh eggs from Petaluma and the Central Valley to bakeries throughout San Francisco. The company operated in the South of Market District for nearly 49 years. During that period, Victor ran his business with the help of several key employees, most important of which was his youngest daughter, Judy. Shortly after her hiring, Steven Herrera began as a route driver. As an ambitious, twenty-five-year-old, Steven took every opportunity to grow, becoming a Salesperson, Distribution Manager, and eventually, Operations Manager.
In March of 1994, the company moved to a larger facility in the Bayview District to accommodate their expanding clientele and product line. Shortly after the move, Judy entered into partnership with Steven. Over the next decade, the company continued to offer a broader range of products and services. In 2005, Judy Cortesi retired from V&C Foods and relinquished her remaining interest to Steven.
To match the ever-changing landscape of the Bay Area restaurant scene, it is only appropriate to continuously evaluate our product line. We believe that by offering the best products available in our marketplace coupled with unparalleled service, the finest establishments will continue to demand our services.
In 2005, we made the decision to represent the Bay Area’s leading organic fluid dairy manufacturer, Straus Family Creamery. This move set into motion efforts to identify complimentary products from manufacturers that value sustainable practices, both in production and distribution.
As the patriarch of our family, Steven saw the potential for V&C to grow from a small, egg distributor to a full-service Dairy Distributor. With an extended product line, expansion beyond the City limits became the next goal. Steven laid the groundwork to expand V&C by creating a name amongst the Bay Area’s top establishments and working with the crème de la crème of chefs and restauranteurs; some of whom have worked with Steven and V&C upwards of 25 years.
Although products have changed, we continue to honor the values that were established over 70 years ago. Our company remains family owned and operated, with Steven’s wife, Liz, managing the finances and their daughter, Victoria, serving as the Director of Sales.
